Jason’s Picks: The curated wine selections hand picked by Sommelier Jason Kallsen
Q1 2019 SELECTIONS: Class and tasting Tuesday, October 9th in White Bear Lake!
Throughout 2019 I’ll be taking over some sections of local wine shops around town, leading with Cotroneo’s in White Bear Lake. The “Jason’s Picks” section will consist of 10 wines that I ferret out from great local wholesalers and offer with full information for the consumer including food pairings, history of the region and wineries, background behind the picks, tasting notes, and more.
On Monday, January 7th we are kicking off the Q1 2019 picks with a fast, fun, informal, and affordable class to taste and talk about the selections. Discounted pricing on all the wines will be available the night of the class. We will taste the 10 “Jason’s Picks” wines during the night and will discuss them all in a fast and fun format.
The aim here is to bring higher value to the wines being offered through education and knowledge, beyond simply being a good bottle to drink. All wines in the “Jason’s Picks” represent four key ideas:
1) All will over deliver relative to price.
2) All will be from family-run operations and smaller producers, leaning toward sustainable, organic, and biodynamic farming practices.
3) All will have something interesting, new, different, or original to offer any wine consumer.
4) All will be connected through a theme of some sort. It may be stylistic, it may be geographical, or it may be philosophical. Regardless, there will be a connection point between all ten wines.
I hope you can make it to the Q1 2019 Jason’s Picks kickoff tasting!
