RIDGE: LIBRARY RELEASES, RARITIES, AND GEMS, featuring wines hand carried directly from the Ridge cellars in Dry Creek Valley.
Angela and I traveled to Sonoma and Napa in February 2017. It’s the kind of trip we do often to catch up on what’s new in the valleys, make sure our favorite restaurants are still open and thriving, take notes on the new, the hot, and the buzz-worthy, and of course stop at Ridge Lytton Springs.
I was lucky enough to first visit the Lytton Springs property during construction of the amazing building, in May of 2002. Every year when we return it’s like a pilgrimage. The old vines from the late 1800’s are a sight to behold and sipping a glass of Lytton Springs while overlooking the vineyard is a holy moment for me.
This year we returned with a boxful of gems from Ridge. Many went straight into our cellar for future enjoyments, but a core group of six wines were picked for this particular class. This line up is incredible, for the wines are at a peak of perfection, with just enough age to have resolved the young sassiness that they had. The complexity of these wines are of the hook. I can’t wait to pop them for you.
